In this scenario, you could replace your central heating system with a more condensed combi model which saves space. However, keep in mind that combi boilers can't always accommodate extensive hot water usage.

Regular Boilers

A regular boiler is just like a system boiler, except the hot water cylinder gets filled from a cold water storage tank rather than straight from the mains. So, if you have water tanks in your loft and a hot water storage cylinder, then your existing boiler is definitely a “regular” one.

Although regular boilers are heat-only examples from earlier days, that doesn't automatically mean you should replace it with a system or combi.

If you're satisfied with your current water heater's performance, then there's no need to replace it with a new one. Frost Protection

All condensing boilers are prone to freezing in colder months because of their Achilles’ Heel - the condensate pipe. This pipe drains the condensate liquid produced by the boiler to an external drain. If a boiler's frozen condensate pipe doesn't allow liquid to flow, the boiler usually shuts down.
